Parked Disc Golf

Effective Date: March 2026

Parked Disc Golf is a disc golf scoring and tracking app developed by Chris Verzwyvelt. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Your password is securely hashed and stored by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never store or have access to your plain-text password.

1.2 Profile Information

You may provide additional profile information including a display name, username, bio, profile photo, and PDGA number. Your username, display name, avatar, stats (total rounds, birdies, aces, streaks), and milestones are visible to all authenticated users of the app. Your email address is not publicly visible.

1.3 Location Data

Parked Disc Golf uses your device's location in two ways:

We do not continuously track your location in the background. Location is only accessed while the app is in use, and only when you are actively searching for courses or recording shots.

1.4 Scorecard and Round Data

We collect the scores, statistics, and round history you enter into the app. This includes the course played, date and time, scores per hole, strokes, OB counts, putting statistics (Circle 1 and Circle 2), fairway hits, drive results, and overall performance data. Round scores and details are visible only to the round creator and participants.

1.5 Social and Activity Data

The app includes social features. Your activity events — such as completed rounds, milestones unlocked, and level-ups — are visible to all authenticated users. Other users can react to your activity. Your friends list is private; only you can see your friends. Accepted friends can view your round history, scores, and course information.

1.6 Practice Data

If you use the practice features, we store your practice session data including session type, duration, drill results (attempts, makes, distances), and disc used. This data is associated with your account and is not shared with other users.

1.7 Sponsor and Challenge Data

The app includes a sponsorship and challenge system. If you apply for a sponsorship, your application message and status are stored. Challenge progress, XP earned, and level information are stored with your profile.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the app. Each service may process certain data as described below.

3.1 Supabase

We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure provider for authentication, database storage, real-time multiplayer synchronization (via WebSocket), and serverless functions. All user data — including credentials, profiles, scores, rounds, and activity — is stored on and transmitted through Supabase's servers. You can review Supabase's privacy practices at supabase.com/privacy.

3.2 Overpass API (OpenStreetMap)

We use the Overpass API to discover nearby disc golf courses. When you search for courses, your GPS bounding box coordinates are sent to Overpass servers. No personal identity information or account data is included in these requests. Overpass is an open-source service operated by the OpenStreetMap community.

3.3 Brave Search API

We use the Brave Search API for course search by location or text query. When you search, your GPS coordinates and search query text are sent to Brave's servers, authenticated with our API key. No personal account information is included. You can review Brave's privacy practices at brave.com/privacy.

3.4 Expo / React Native

The app is built with Expo (React Native). The Expo notifications library is included for local notifications; while no server push notifications are currently implemented, your device's push token may be registered with Expo and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) infrastructure. Expo CLI may collect build-time telemetry during app compilation, but no runtime analytics or telemetry is collected within the app. You can review Expo's privacy practices at expo.dev/privacy.

3.5 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat may process transaction data, subscription status, and device identifiers in accordance with their privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

4. Data Sharing and Visibility

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Data visible to all authenticated users: Your profile (username, display name, avatar, stats, milestones), activity events (round completions, milestone unlocks, level-ups), and reactions.

Data visible to round participants only: Round scores, hole-by-hole details, and shot-level data including GPS coordinates of throws.

Data visible to accepted friends: Your round history, scores, and course information.

Data visible only to you: Your email address, friends list, practice sessions, sponsor applications, and challenge progress.

We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices including:

Locally on your device, the app stores your authentication tokens in encrypted storage (Keychain). Non-sensitive preferences (dark mode setting, daily XP state) are stored in unencrypted local storage. Temporary data such as cached API responses and app state are held in memory only and cleared when the app is closed.

No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app under the Account section in your profile. Deleting your account will permanently remove all of your data, including your profile, rounds, scores, shots, statistics, milestones, challenges, practice sessions, activity history, reactions, and friends list. This action cannot be undone.

6.2 Location Permissions

You can control location access through your device's Settings at any time. Disabling location services will prevent nearby course discovery and shot-level GPS tracking, but will not affect your ability to manually search for courses or record scores.

6.3 Push Notifications

You can enable or disable push notification permissions through your device's Settings. The app currently uses local notifications only.

6.4 Data Access

If you would like to request a copy of your personal data or have questions about what data we hold, please contact us using the information below.

7. Children's Privacy

Parked Disc Golf is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
